I bought another one!

Tatjana's books are such a delight to read and look at and are on Amazon at such reasonable prices if your interested.
This is about little Jessie who stows aboard her daddy's fishing boat and she falls into the sea, unknown to the crew.
But she is saved by dolphins thankfully!

Tatjana says in a preface that she also makes one of a kind fabric collages that are sold in galleries.
She explains that her process for these illustrations is to draw the pictures herself then carefully match a fabric to the cut out shapes and hand stitch or machine stitch as required. She appliques the shapes, turning in a small seam allowance.
If she cannot find suitable fabric she will print her own using a monoprint process or thin down fabric paints to achieve the effect she's after.

In this book what she did for the sea on one of the pages was to paint fabric paint onto a sheet of acetate, lay another sheet on top of it, rub them both together...........then print them onto fabric.
So here's a taster of some of this books pages.........
I know, I know, I accept it, I've become a nerd on fabric illustrated children s books!!
( Sorry lol)

But wouldn't they make great blocks for a bairns quilt too.....

The C13th Burton Agnes Church

Burton Agnes has its own small church alongside, which is C13th with the old box pews and the yew trees at its entrance, are 300 years old. Its like walking into a cave accessing the porch door!

Aren't the leafy patterned windows attractive......they'd work great in patchwork but no doubt drive you crazy fitting it all together lol

...like lots of teeth aren't they, hard to believe they are symbols of past lives.

Burton Agnes Hall and a spooky woodland walk

A trip back to Burton Agnes Hall again today, this time with grandson to hunt for spooky clues in their woodland walk areas....this C16th house is always a delight.
So after 45 mins in the car.....it's Ready, Steady Go..... and under the gatehouse arch...

Not bad for the gatehouse is it!

Harry, Sidney and the Egg by Tarjana Tekkel

I found another textile illustrated book!
Published by Bloomsbury 1997.

I seem to be collecting them now don't I! But this is another delightful story with delish illustrations..........and fabrics to boot so whats not to like!
And very Janet Bolton right?

Log Cabin inside covers and end papers........bliss..........

You can see why they are so wonderful though surely! And the bonus is that reading them to the grandson then becomes doubly enjoyable!
